France - Biarritz 06.09.08
After a 5 and a half hour super fast train ride from Paris I arrived In Biarritz and walked to the hostel to take a well needed rest/sleep.
The next day I decided to take the 40 minute walk to Le Grand Plage (main beach) and check out the massive waves rolling in. The waves were a good 8-10 foot and after trying my best to speak a little French/English to one of the life guards on the beach I realised that not even the locals were surfing because it was so dangerous! Sunbathing for the rest of the day seemed like the best idea. Back at the hostel over a few pints I met a nice bunch of people travelling through Biarritz learning how to surf and speak French.
Over the next couple of days the surf dropped and was between 6-8 foot which at times was very scary and tiring. It was a dream come true to be surfing such amazing waves in boardshorts at France's surfng capital in 30 degree sun. After 5 days of surfing and sunbathing it was time to meet up with Alice Chambers and stay at her apartment on the main beach for a couple of nights well speant hitting Biarritz local clubs and mingling with locals on the beach.
