South West Australia - Parents And Rachel Visit 13.11.09
Parents and sister Rachel came to visit me in Perth at the start of summer 2009.
Good times catching up with the parents and sister while driving around South West Australia. First couple of nights were spent showing them around Fremantle, Cottesloe and Scarborough beaches and having yummy dinners in various places.
Three days in to their 10 day holiday I drove us all down to Albany. After having a look around Albany and checking out Middleton Beach, The Natural Bridge and The Gap we decided we to head on our way and find somewhere to stay in Denmark. We found a nice cabin near Ocean Beach and stayed there for two nights.
The next morning we discovered Elephant Rocks and Green Pools. Two beautiful picturesque lagoon shaped bays with warm water was a dream come true :) After adventuring around the rocks for a few hours it was time to head to an Alpaca farm and check out some animals.
Next day was spent slowly crawling along a 40m high tree top walk in Walpole, watching people climb the huge 65m Gloucester Tree, having in lunch in Pemberton and driving to Margaret River.
There was no surf in Margs and the weather was overcast, so we spent most of the time going in and out of the local shops. We also grabbed a few bottles of wine from the MadFish winery, pigged out on chocolate at the chocolate factory and checked out the stunning Lake Cave.
We drove back to Perth via Busselton, Bunbury and Mandurah.
Our last days in Perth together were spent going out for yummy dinners. There were no tears shed when goodbyes were said as we all knew I would be back in Wellington for Anna’s wedding within 3 months!
