South West Australia - Easter Break Away 2.04.10
Aurelie and I decided to get out of Perth and relax down south for 4 days over the Easter long weekend.
On Friday we drove 5 hours south to Albany through shitty weather and arrived to thunder and lightning storms. We took a quick look at The Gap and The Natural Bridge and then decided to drive towards the blue sky coming from Denmark. Once we arrived we watched surfers catch some decent size waves at Ocean Beach and then headed to a spa/retreat to relax. Afterwards it was dark and time to setup camp, we were lucky enough to find a spot outside a farmers gate and setup tent haha.
Second day we spent the morning checking out Green Pools and Elephant Rocks before heading towards Augusta where we had planned to meet a few of Aurelie's friends at a camp site for a BBQ and drinks that night.
For lunch we went to an amazing restaurant in Denmark at the top of the main hill which over looks the beautiful country side.
On the way to Augusta Aurelie quickly climbed the famous Gloucester Tree in Pemberton without hesitation, I couldn't believe how fast she went up and down while I videoed her climb from below.
We arrived at the camp ground in the dark and drank with all her friends until the early hours of Sunday morning.
On the third day we looked around Augusta quickly and then headed to Gracetown for a spot of fishing while the sun came down. Absolutely no luck catching fish but plenty of laughs had while we lost sinkers, hooks etc from the rocks.
On the fourth day we woke up early and packed our tent for the last time and drove to Cape Dive in Dunsborough, the company that would take us scuba diving on the Swan Wreck (an old navy boat which was sunk off the coast of Dunsborough in 1997) an artificial reef. It was the first boar sunk in the southern hemisphere for the purpose of diving so we got to see lots of marine life around and on the boat which was cool. The funnest part was being guided 25m down in to the boats cabins by the dive masters with torches.
After the two dives we had lunch and spent the rest of the afternoon tasting beers and wine at local brewery's and vineyards.
